Welcome

If you’ve come to check out my blog, thank you.

I’ve always loved writing, but I’m not always the best at carving out space in my days to do so. I thought having a pretty website might help. This is actually my fourth blog — this one follows blogspot, then Tumblr, then WordPress. My last blog was titled “Motherhood in the Raw.” At the time, I was a stay-at-home Mom who wrote wrote about everyday life — the joys and trials of life in the trenches of parenting. Then, as my children grew older, I realized that sometimes motherhood is a bit too raw and maybe the name didn’t fit my niche anymore.

Fast forward several years — I was laid off in November 2020 from my communications job, and I found myself contemplating “What now?” Months later, I landed a lovely editor job that I adore. And I still enjoy freelance editing and writing as well. Even still, as my professional life continues to blossom, there’s sometimes this little voice in my head that’s whispering — “But what if you’re not that good?” (See this very fitting graphic below, by @michellerial)

I guess the benefit of being in my 40s is that my life no longer feels like it’s stretching out before me, endless in length and possibility. So, carpe diem. This blog is meant to be a creative outlet — one of the ways I can express myself and share interesting content. (You’ll see that I’ve included a handful of my favorite posts from previous blogs.)

I also use this website to house my portfolio — one that I hope can grow over the coming years. I hope to post relatively frequently. I’m happy to have you along for the ride.
